Does UKVI accept your German translations without an apostille?
Yes. UKVI needs a certified translation, not an apostille. If the receiving authority asks for an apostille on the original German document, that is obtained in Germany separately.

German paperwork is thorough, well stamped and, for a UK caseworker, unreadable. A Standesamt Geburtsurkunde, an Abiturzeugnis and a Führungszeugnis each follow a fixed layout that our German translators know by heart, which is why they can render them into English without losing a single Vermerk. Every translation is certified in the format UKVI asks for, and we cover Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland at the same rate.
Any German-language document in your UK file needs a certified English translation: birth, marriage and partnership certificates from the Standesamt, Zeugnisse and university degrees, the Führungszeugnis, bank statements and employment references. Multilingual EU certificates still need the German-only sections translated.
Germany issues some civil certificates on the multilingual EU form, which helps, but the Standesamt's own Urkunden and anything with a handwritten Randvermerk (a margin note recording a name change, divorce or adoption) are German only. We translate the note as well as the form.
For work and study files the Zeugnis is the document that trips people up: the German grading scale runs the other way from the UK's, and an Arbeitszeugnis is written in a coded language of its own. We translate the words faithfully and add a short translator's note where the convention would otherwise mislead.
Yes. Austrian Standesamt documents, Swiss Zivilstandsamt extracts and Swiss-German bank statements are translated at the same £15.59 per page, by translators familiar with each country's terminology.
Austria's Staatsbürgerschaftsnachweis and Switzerland's Familienausweis have no exact UK equivalent, so the English names them accurately and a note explains their function. Swiss documents often arrive in German, French and Italian at once; we translate the German and flag anything that only appears in another language.
German to English certified translation costs £15.59 per page. A one-page Geburtsurkunde is £15.59 and a two-page Führungszeugnis is £31.18. Standard delivery is within 24 business hours; same-day rush is available.
If you need a German sworn translation for use in Germany (a beglaubigte Übersetzung by a court-sworn translator), that is a different service with its own page under our country listings. This page is for German documents coming into the UK.
Yes. UKVI needs a certified translation, not an apostille. If the receiving authority asks for an apostille on the original German document, that is obtained in Germany separately.
Yes. The Führungszeugnis is translated in full, including the Bundesamt für Justiz header and the entry (or 'keine Eintragung') exactly as issued.
No. We translate the grades as printed and add a note on the German scale where useful. Grade conversion is UK ENIC's job and they accept our certified format.
Only the parts that are German only, which is usually the Standesamt's own stamps and any margin notes. If the whole form is already in English we will tell you no translation is needed.
