My police certificate shows no record. Does it still need translating?
Yes, if it isn't in English or Irish. ISD needs to read the result, the period covered and the issuing authority, whatever the result is.
English translations of foreign police clearance certificates for Immigration Service Delivery, Irish citizenship and employment vetting, delivered by the next working day.
A certified police certificate translation for Ireland is a full English version of a foreign police clearance certificate, signed and dated by the translator, for Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) and other Irish bodies assessing good character. VisaDocTranslation prepares it at €19.19 per page, in euro, delivered by the next working day, or within 8 hours on rush.
Police certificates have a short shelf life in Irish applications, so the translation shouldn't eat into it. Upload the certificate as soon as it arrives and you'll have the translation back quickly. Our certified translation for Ireland page covers the rest of a typical file.

Yes, if the certificate isn't in English or Irish. ISD asks de facto partners of Irish citizens for a police clearance certificate, no more than 6 months old, from their country of current residence and every country they've lived in during the 5 years before applying, and each must come with a full translation.
ISD says the certificate must be issued by the police force of that country and include a full check of national and local records; checks by private companies aren't accepted. Our translation reproduces everything on it: the issuing authority, reference numbers, the period covered, the result and any verification code, so ISD can match it to the original.
If you've lived in several countries, you may have several certificates in several languages. Upload them all in one order and we'll translate each in full, with your name spelled the same way across the set.
Citizenship applicants must be of good character, and An Garda Síochána provides a report on each applicant through the National Vetting Bureau's e-vetting. If ISD asks for a police certificate from another country and it isn't in English or Irish, it needs a certified translation.
The Garda report covers Ireland. For time spent abroad, follow the instructions in your application or any request from the Citizenship Division, and have the certificate translated as soon as you receive it so none of its validity is lost.
Our translation follows the citizenship guidance: produced by a professional translation service, signed, and carrying the translator's contact details, ready to upload with a copy of the original.
For de facto partner applications, ISD asks for police certificates no more than 6 months old. Other application types set their own rules, so check the checklist for yours.
Six months passes quickly once you add a request to a police authority, international post and a translation. Order the translation on the day the certificate arrives: standard delivery is the next working day and rush is within 8 hours.
The translation is tied to that particular certificate. If you need a newer certificate later, the new one needs its own translation.
€19.19 per page for next-working-day delivery, or €35.99 per page for rush delivery within 8 hours. Most police certificates are one or two pages.
The price covers the translation, the signed certification and a quality check, and every document includes 2 free revisions. Some certificates come with a separate verification page or an apostille; include those so the translation matches exactly what ISD receives.

Some do. Organisations vetting people for work with children or vulnerable adults, and some professional regulators, can ask applicants who have lived abroad for police certificates from those countries, translated into English.
Garda vetting checks Irish records; it can't see records held in other countries. That's why an employer or regulator may ask for a foreign certificate as well, and the same certified translation can usually serve both them and ISD if the timing works.
If you're also translating payslips and employment letters or diplomas and transcripts for the same job, upload them together so names match throughout.

Yes. We translate every certificate fully and accurately and handle it with care. We never summarise, soften or leave out entries; ISD needs to see exactly what the original says.
For de facto partner applications, ISD says checks conducted by private companies are not accepted. The certificate must come from the police force of the country and cover national and local records.
ISD asks for a confirmation of accuracy, the date, the translator's full name and signature, and their contact details. Our certified translations include all of those.
Yes. Reference numbers, verification codes and any instructions for checking the certificate online are translated or reproduced exactly, so ISD can verify the original.
Standard orders are delivered by the next working day and rush orders within 8 hours, as a PDF by email. Rush is useful when a certificate is close to the end of its validity window.
Usually, yes, as long as the certificate itself is still recent enough for both. Check each organisation's rules on how old a certificate can be.
